Who is Buddha and why do people gravitate to a stone statue of a fat man
why do people forsake their own mercy from God by going after other gods
who cannot save them and never lived?
It is a belief system!
The fat Buddha is an expression of prosperity. The real
Buddha, who was a real person, was not fat. I do not know about the
invisible sky wizard or if he ever lived anywhere except in the
imaginations of some people who lived in a desert half-way around the
world a few thousand years ago.
They follow the fancy of their heart and what tickles their
ear.
There is more proof that Buddha lived than Jesus. People saw
him as a prophet The fat statues, are Chinese and are not the same as the
Buddha of India. He had an interesting life. He lived 500 years before
Jesus and many think Jesus copied some of his teachings.

First off, Buddha is not a god.
He was a historical figure named Siddhartha Gautama from over 2,500 years
ago from India who sought for an understanding of the world we live in.
The result was The Buddha obtaining enlightenment, or freedom from the
need to be attached to worldly things. Buddhists do not ''worship'' him as
you would say, but look for guidance in him for our own journey towards enlightenment. You may not understand the full concept of Buddhism, but that gives you no right to insult it, nor does it give you any right to judge Buddhism or it is followers. Was it not a teaching of Jesus to love everyone & all people regardless of what they believed? Jesus taught tolerance, which you obviously don't show, nor ever took to heart. The Buddha DID live, because there are records of his birth, considering the fact that at his birth, he was part of the upper class. and also, Christianity took many Buddhist concepts such as patience, tolerance, & love for all beings, which Jesus took on his journey into the desert. and by the way, the ''fat man'' is the laughing Buddha. There asre many different ones.
The Gautama Buddha was a real person, a prince from Northern
India. That is not a myth.
His life is well documented.
They don't.
The fat statue is Hotei. It is not Buddha. Buddha begged for his meals &
couldn't have been fat.
Buddha said that he'd never found any evidence of a separate,
independently arising self, let alone any deity. So anyone interpreting his teachings as a desire for worship is simply as ignorant about Buddhism as you are. There is a lot more evidence for the existence of Buddha than Jesus. Personally, I don't care if either one of them truly lived. I only care if the teachings are correct. It is not important whether Jesus existed or was god or the son of god. Are his teachings correct? Are the teachings of Buddha truly useful to end suffering? That is what matters about them both.
The Buddha isn't a god, nor was the Buddha fat. There have
been subsequent buddhas, but The Buddha was born Siddartha Gautama. No
one worships him as a god although HInduism does view him as an avatar of
Vishnu or Krishna, I can not remember. I will have to check.
Buddhism mostly does not address the metaphysical & is often used as a
complementary religion along with one that does, some Buddhists are Christian, some practice Shinto, some are other religions. Buddhism teaches us to live in such a way as to not only end suffering, but promote loving kindness. It is very similar in this way to the teachings of Jesus, however Buddhism goes farther & teaches the hows, the whys, the consequences of doing otherwise. To say ''Love thy neighbor'' is a noble thing, but what if ur neighbor is an arse?? Buddhism teaches how to love that neighbor too. If you take 20 minutes to actually learn about Siddartha Gautama & Buddhism, you will see why so many are drawn to the ideas & practices.
The fat Buddha is a symbol of joy and prosperity. It is not
the original buddha but a Chinese monk called Hotei. (Buddha is a title,
not a name.)
Why do you worship a god who would send people to eternal torture simply
because they grew up in a culture that taught them to adopt a particular
religion?
why do people gravitate to a jewish homosexual who got himself
nailed to a cross for being too flamboyant?
sorry to answer a question with a question.
Probably for the same reason that some people gravitate to
images of a dead guy hanging from cross.
Buddha is depicted as a fat man. Large objects have higher
gravitational pulls. That is why people gravitate towards large Buddha
statues.
Maybe if Jesus put on some pounds you wouldn't be losing so many
followers.
thats like saying who the fuck is jesus and why do people
gravitate to him? and if he was so smart and powerful why did he die so
young and easily, and why do stupid people believe jesus is alive, even
when there is no real fact that the man even existed?
a stone statue of a fat man is way cooler than the never
pictured God.
How do you know Buddhism isnt the right way and Buddha cant save you?? On
that matter how do you know Jesus really lived?
Buddhism teaches that Nirvana is the highest state of being, a
state of pure being, & it is achieved by means relative to the individual.
Nirvana defies rational explanation & logical ordering & therefore cannot
be taught, only realized. Jesus’ teaching on heaven, in contrast, was
quite specific. He taught us that our physical bodies die but our souls
ascend to be with Him in heaven (Mark 12:25). The Buddha taught that
people do not have individual souls, for the individual self or ego is an illusion. For Buddhists there is no merciful Father in heaven who sent His Son to die for our souls, for our salvation, to provide the way for us to reach His glory. Ultimately, that is why Buddhism is to be rejected.
the sad fact is- the Buddha never claimed to be a god. his
followers started this idolotrous practices in China 500 yrs after he
lived.
Buddha is not a god. It is just a symbol of prosperity for some
people.
If Buddha practiced what he preached, how come he was so obese?
