New York has a large statue of freedom. Do you call that an
Muffin
idol? No. So having statue alone does not mean worshipping an idol.

So you would argue what about the action? Buddhists pray to the statue!

Now, when you go to a memorial, do you bow & pay respect to the deceased?

Yes, right? Do you call that worshipping the deceased? No. Similarly, when
Buddha was alive, people pay respect by kneeling, bowing etc to him. Today,
we are just doing the same -- no more, no less.

Religiously, worshipping means ''the practice of showing respect for God''
(Oxford Advanced Learner is Dictionary). We don't even treat Buddha as a
God (is there one?). We treat him as a Great Teacher. Does anybody worship
his teacher(s) in school?

If we really worship statue, then Buddhists should react strongly towards
the destruction of the world tallest Buddha statue in Afghanistan. The
fact is, the whole world Buddhists took it calm & cool. Again, this show
that Buddhists don't treat the statue as symbol of idol.

It is good you ask, then we can learn together :)

The statue is metaphorical, it represents things but we still do not

worship it.

Meditation is not to anyone, you can concentrate on things while you
meditate but you still do not meditate to anyone, & bowing is still now
worship its a differnt thing entirely.

Also some buddhists are athiest & others believe in a god but both of
these are seperate beliefs from buddhism & neither are condemned by
buddhism.

Buddhism arose out of hinduism, the historical buddha was hindu & buddhism
bloomed out of hinduism.

It is true that the buddha rebelled against a few ideas in hinduism like
the caste system but they also have many similarities like karma, dharma,
tolerance, compassion, & many others.

Only a few things changed & then buddhism expanded ona lot of things &
created its own history.

I believe there still are buddhists in india which was the birth place of
buddhism, there are also hindus & muslims there.

I am just not sure you understand what you're asking or much about the
topics to which you're asking either.

Adi Shankara unified and codified the way of life. He preached Advaida

(A = No and dvaida = two). That is, in simpler terms, there is no
difference between God and Man and man can reach god.

My dear friend pose questions. But it should not be with the ulterior
motive and aimed at spreading hatred.

Actualy buddha said that pure Buddhism wouldn't last more than 500 years
after his death. So we are not surprised. You just proved that Buddhas
teachings are correct, Thank You.

They do not, in fact, 'pray to a Buddha statue'; instead, they

'meditate before a Buddha statue'.
